 14 April 2017

The first round of the Forth Valley League (FVL) takes place at Craigswood Sports Centre on Saturday 29 April.

There are two Livingston teams entered so that every athlete in the club has the opportunity to compete in the Forth Valley League. For any new members, the Forth Valley League is an ideal introduction to league competition.

The "A" team compete in Division 2 and the "B" team compete in Division 3. At the first round, matches for both Divisions 2 and 3 are in the afternoon between 1.15 pm and 4.00 pm. Athletes should be at the venue 1 hour before their match starts.

Availability

Please use the availability form to let to let the team managers know if you're available or not for this match. For league matches, availability forms should always be submitted, even if you're not available!

The last date to confirm availability is midnight on Wednesday 19 April.

To assist the team managers with selecting teams, can you please note on the availability form whether you are available for the second and third matches.

Selection

Once the availability period has closed, the team managers will get feedback from lead coaches on the athletes who are available, and then they will select the teams. The provisional teams sheets are usually posted in the pavilion on the Wednesday before the competition and emailed on Thursday.

As this is a half-day team competition with only 2 places per event per team, most athletes will only be doing 1 or 2 events, and may not be doing their favourite event! At league matches, the emphasis is on participation and competing as a part of a team, with all selected club members expected to take part.

The points scoring system means that it's important that we have competitors in all events at a match. Athletes that do an event for the first time "to get a point" are just as important a part of the team as the athletes that win events.
