Livingston Athletic Club Livingston Athletic Club

Athletics Club Training

Athletes move to the main club sessions at around age 12, , once they've built a foundation of running, jumping and throwing skills.

Secondary school children can join the club directly. Primary school children start in our Run + Jump + Throw Club and progress to the main club between ages 11-12 as they develop.

The club training sessions run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings at Craigswood Sports Centre, Livingston, with training groups available for all abilities.

Our Programme

What is it?

There are four stages in our coaching structure, providing athletes with a progressive pathway from "playground to podium."

At the start of the pathway, the focus is on multi-event skills development. Athletes are encouraged to try a variety of events, covering both track and field, with the emphasis on developing skills and improving fitness in a fun and supportive environment.

As athletes progress, the approach becomes more event specific, with event groups available for sprints, endurance, jumps and throws.

Who is it for?

Secondary school pupils and young adults who want to build on the skills learned in RJT.

With groups for sprints, endurance, jumps, throws and multi-events, there's a training group to suit everyone - whether you're aiming to compete regularly or just want to train for fitness and enjoyment.
